Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 41year old Shlaine Freeland of 166 Galding Avenue, Buffalo, was sentenced to five years of probation and a restitution order  of $24,000 (requiring Freeland to make payments of $200 per month over a period of 120 months), by Erie County Court Judge Sheila DiTullio. Freeland also executed a confession of judgment acknowledging his indebtedness to New York State for the outstanding amount of $80,986.57.

Freeland’s sentence is the result of his conviction for Grand Larceny in the 2nd Degree. Between September 1, 2008 and August 31, 2012, as owner of a used car dealership and repair shop at 779 Genesee Street in Buffalo, Freeland stole sales tax revenue and evaded sales tax by hiding money he collected from the sale of motor vehicles.

Freeland was successfully prosecuted by ADA Holly P. Tucker and ADA Gary M. Ertel, both of whom are assigned to DA Sedita’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau.
