Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced that 31 year old Damario James of 20 Van Gorder Street, Buffalo, pleaded guilty, as charged, to Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree before Senior County Court Judge Michael L. D’Amico.  This was the highest charge for which James could have been convicted had he gone to trial.

James admitted that on April 24, 2013, while on Fillmore Avenue in Buffalo, he drove a motor vehicle knowing his driver’s license had been suspended or revoked 18 times over the last 10 years, including a revocation in connection with a 2009 conviction for Driving While Intoxicated. When confronted with his less than stellar driving record, James told the police it was his intention to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles the following day to clear up his license.  

Assistant District Attorney Christopher H. Gresham of DA Sedita’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau successfully prosecuted the case.

James faces a maximum prison term of 4 years when he is sentenced before Judge D’Amico on February 4, 2014, at 9:30 a.m.
