Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced that 21 year-old Marlek Williams of Littlefield Avenue, Buffalo, pleaded guilty as charged to two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree before State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns.  These are the highest charges for which Williams could have been convicted had he gone to trial.

On July 4, 2013 the Buffalo Police Department received several 911 calls of an individual waving a gun on Tonawanda Street in the City of Buffalo.  Buffalo Police Officers Michael Aquino and James O’Donnell promptly responded but Williams fled. The officers pursued Williams to Gorton Street, when Williams jumped a fence and discarded a loaded Colt .380 semi-automatic pistol. Upon being questioned, Williams admitted to the officers that he possessed the illegal handgun. Williams soon posted bail and was released from custody.

Shockingly, Williams again ran afoul of the law while out on bail.   

On November 14, 2013 in the vicinity of 1129 E. Ferry Street, Buffalo Police Officers Mark Hamilton, Michael Acquino, and James O’Donnell found Williams in possession of a .22 caliber revolver, loaded with six rounds. Williams’ bail was finally revoked as a result of this arrest.

Both cases were successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Mara L. McCabe, who is assigned to DA Sedita’s Felony Trial Bureau. Williams faces a maximum prison term of 30 years when he is sentenced before Justice Burns on January 14, 2014 at 9:30 a.m.
