Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 40 year-old Audra Sandy of 76 Sage Avenue, Buffalo, New York, was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang on an indictment charging her with two counts of Feloniously Driving While Intoxicated and two counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

The following is alleged: that on January 1, 2014, while driving drunk, Sandy struck a parked vehicle parked in the driveway of a West Seneca home; that she fled the scene and continued driving; that her vehicle jumped a curb, struck another vehicle, ran into a pylon, and hit a street sign, all before landing in a parking lot; that she exited her vehicle and walked toward a nearby West Seneca tavern; and, that she registered a .10% blood alcohol content.

As alleged in the special information, Sandy was previously convicted of Driving While Intoxicated in 2006. As set forth in open court, Sandy was also convicted of Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree in 1998 in Genesee County for driving drunk, running a stop sign, and crashing into the back corner of a house. In that case, Sandy’s passenger subsequently died of injuries suffered in the collision.

If convicted of these crimes, Sandy faces a maximum prison sentence of 1 ⅓ to 4 years.

Like all defendants accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
