Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 23 year-old Kevin Ford of 141 Princeton, Amherst, pleaded guilty as charged, to Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Serious Physical Injury and Insurance Fraud in the Fourth Degree before Erie County Court Judge Michael Pietruszka. These are the highest charges for which the defendant could have been convicted had he gone to trial.  In other words, Ford was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. 

On February 3, 2014, Ford’s vehicle struck a 16 year-old pedestrian on Main St. in the City of Buffalo. Ford fled the scene and drove to Niagara Falls.   Ford then reported the vehicle was stolen and filed a false insurance claim one week later. 

Ford faces a maximum of 8 years in state prison when he is sentenced on July 17, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. by Judge Pietruszka.

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kelley A. Omel, Chief of DA Sedita’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau. DA Sedita also lauded the efforts of the Buffalo Police Department Accident Investigation Unit and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office Confidential Criminal Investigators who worked the case, stating: “Because of their dedication and professionalism, an unscrupulous coward was brought to justice.”
