Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced that 42-year-old Kychene Venable of 342 East Ferry Street in the City of Buffalo pleaded guilty as charged to one count of Robbery in the First Degree and three counts of Robbery in the Third Degree before Acting State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia. These were the highest charges for which the defendant could have been convicted had he gone to trial. In other words, Venable was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

On October 11, 2012 and on December 31, 2012 and on March 7, 2013 and July 10, 2013, Venable robbed the same 7-11 store located at 2065 Delaware Avenue in the City of Buffalo. During all four robberies, Venable demanded cash and cigarettes. During one robbery the defendant threatened the clerk with a box cutter.

No stranger to the criminal justice system, Venable boasts 23 prior criminal convictions and faces a maximum of 46 years in state prison when he is sentenced by Justice Buscaglia on September 15, 2014 at 9:30 a.m.

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sara N. Ogden, who is assigned to the Tactical Prosecution Unit of DA Sedita’s Felony Trial Bureau.
