District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 28 year-old Matthew Graham of 277 Main Street, East Aurora, New York, pleaded guilty this morning before Erie County Court Judge Thomas P. Franczyk to Vehicular Assault in the First Degree.  This is a higher charge than initially filed and the highest charge for which Graham could have been convicted had he gone to trial.

Graham admitted that on April 19, 2014, with a BAC of .21%, he drove his vehicle the wrong way on the Skyway and crashed into an oncoming car on Route 5 in Buffalo.   The collision caused serious injuries to the leg of 37 year-old Gillian Eckert of Kenmore.

Graham faces a maximum prison sentence of 7 years in prison when he is sentenced before Judge Franczyk on October 15, 2014 at 9:30 a.m.  The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kelley A. Omel, Chief of DA Sedita’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
