District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 36 year-old Jeffrey J. Basil of 713 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville, New York, will be arraigned at 9:30 a.m. before Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang on an indictment charging him with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

It is alleged that on May 11, 2014, Basil launched William C. Sager, Jr. down a flight of stairs at Molly’s Pub located at 3199 Main Street in the City of Buffalo. It is further alleged that Basil removed a DVR from the bar’s surveillance system so that video footage could not be used as evidence against him.

If convicted of these crimes, Basil faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years.

Like all defendants accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
