District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 36 year-old Jeffrey J. Basil of 713 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville, New York, will be arraigned at 9:30AM, Monday August 25, 2014 before the Hon. Penny M. Wolfgang in State Supreme Court on a superseding indictment charging him with Murder in the Second Degree, Manslaughter in the First Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

It is alleged that on May 11, 2014, Basil launched William C. Sager, Jr. down a flight of stairs at Molly’s Pub, 3199 Main Street in the City of Buffalo.  Mr. Sager died from his injuries on July 31, 2014. It is further alleged that Basil removed a DVR from a video surveillance system at the bar so that it could not be used as evidence.

If convicted of these crimes, Basil faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years-to-life in state prison.

Like all defendants accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
