Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced that 21 year-old Derrick Roseboro, aka “Little D,” of Mapleview Road in the Town of Cheektowaga pleaded guilty as charged to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. In an unrelated indictment, Roseboro also pleaded guilty as charged to three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree for selling crack cocaine.  These pleas took place before State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns and are the highest level charges for which the defendant could have been convicted had he gone to trial.

In the drug case, Roseboro sold crack cocaine to an undercover police officer on three occasions: July 23, 2013, August 6, 2013, and August 8, 2013. Although all three sales took place in Buffalo, the investigation was conducted by Narcotics Detectives from the Cheektowaga Police Department.

Thereafter, while an Erie County Grand Jury was hearing evidence about the narcotics sales, on November 18, 2013, Roseboro was found in possession of a loaded and unlicensed .38 caliber revolver used in a retaliatory shooting. The individuals indicted for this shooting--Troy Berry and Phillip Washington--face trial on December 8, 2014 before Justice Burns.

Roseboro faces up to 15 years in state prison for the illegal handgun possession and up to 27 additional years behind bars for dealing crack, when he is sentenced on October 2, 2014 at 9:30 am, by Justice Burns. 

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney and Felony Trial Bureau Chief Michael P. Felicetta, as well as Assistant District Attorney James W. Mansour II, who is also assigned to DA Sedita’s Felony Trial Bureau.
