Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced that 52 year old Edward “Boo” Bishop of Hewitt Street, Buffalo, NY, will be arraigned at 2:00 p.m. before Erie County Court Judge Timothy Franczyk on an indictment charging him with seven counts of felony Animal Fighting.
The following is alleged: that on April 25, 2014, at about 10:15 a.m., a search warrant was executed at the defendant’s home. Officers from the Buffalo Police Department, the SPCA, and the ASPCA, among other agencies, found dog fighting equipment, dog fighting literature, food supplements and pain killers, as well as seven pit bull dogs. Several dogs were found to have scarring from dog fighting injuries. The defendant is charged with engaging in or allowing the training of the seven dogs for dog fighting in his home.
The defendant has been released on bail pending the outcome of the case. If convicted of these crimes, Bishop faces a maximum sentence of 28 years in state prison.
Like all defendants accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
