Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 29 year-old Christine Gilbert of 835 Center Road in the Town of West Seneca pleaded guilty as charged to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree before Erie County Court Judge Timothy Franczyk.  This is the highest charge for which the defendant could have been convicted had she gone to trial.  In other words, Gilbert did not receive a so-called “plea bargain” and was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. 

Between December 24, 2012 and February 24, 2014, Gilbert embezzled over $24,000 from Bakery Victory Services, for whom she was employed as a resident manager. Gilbert stole using two methods:  she falsified paperwork to make it appear she had worked overtime hours when she had not and she stole cash belonging to disabled people being serviced by her employer.  Baker Victory Services has replaced the cash stolen from these disabled victims. 

Gilbert faces up to seven years in prison when she is sentenced on December 18, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Franczyk. 

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christopher P. Jurusik, who is assigned to DA Sedita’s Financial Crimes Bureau.
