Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 37 year-old Jeffrey Sapp of 242 Highgate Avenue in the City of Buffalo pleaded guilty as charged to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree before State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang.  These were the highest charges in the indictment and the highest charges for which the defendant could have been convicted at trial. In other words, Sapp did not receive a so-called “plea bargain” and was instead prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Sapp, a career drug dealer with gun and drug convictions dating back to 1995, was on parole for a 2004 Robbery conviction. On January 16, 2014, Parole Officers found four ounces of cocaine and a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver hidden in the basement of Sapp’s residence. Sapp admitted to Buffalo Police officers that he was supplying large quantities of cocaine to area drug dealers for retail sale.

Sapp faces a maximum prison term of 18 years when he is sentenced by Justice Wolfgang on January 5, 2015, at 9:30 a.m.

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney John P. Gerken, Jr., who is assigned to DA Sedita’s Felony Trial Bureau.
