Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 19 year-old Raekwon Davis of Longnecker Street in the City of Buffalo pleaded guilty as charged to Attempted Robbery in the Third Degree before Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns.  This is the highest charge for which the defendant could have been convicted had he gone to trial.  In other words, Davis did not receive a so-called “plea bargain” and was instead prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. 

On July 10, 2014, Davis entered the Bank of America located at 1171 E. Delavan Avenue and handed the teller a note which claimed he had a bomb and would kill every person in the bank, as well as the bank teller’s family, unless he was immediately provided with money.  The teller refused and Davis, who was wearing a dreadlock wig in a feeble attempt to disguise himself, fled the bank empty-handed.

Buffalo police officers promptly responded and apprehended Davis a short distance away from the crime scene. The teller easily identified Davis as the culprit, adding that he had worn a wig during the attempted robbery. Sure enough, the police soon found the wig next to a nearby garbage tote.

Davis, who is a purported eyewitness to a homicide but refuses to cooperate with authorities, was initially released by the court on $10,000 bail. An indictment warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to appear in Court.  Once located, Davis was again released from custody on the same $10,000 bail. Davis remains uncooperative and at liberty pending his May 26, 2015 sentence, where he faces up to four years in state prison.
