District Attorney’s Office Recognized for Successful Fraud Prosecutions

District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that the New York State Department of Labor has awarded the Erie County District Attorney’s Office certificates of recognition for its success in prosecuting unemployment insurance fraud cases and recovering fraudulently obtained benefits on behalf of state and county taxpayers. Between 2009 and 2014, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office recovered $764,845 in fraudulently obtained unemployment insurance benefits, giving Erie County one of the top recovery rates in New York State.  Unemployment insurance fraud cases are principally prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Gary Ertel and Holly Tucker, members of the Erie County District Attorney’s Office Financial Crimes Bureau.
