Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that former county employee Dennis J. Mager pleaded guilty as charged to one count of petit larceny before the Hon. Robert J. Pierce in Elma Town Court on Monday, June 3, 2015.
This is the highest charge for which the defendant could have been convicted had he gone to trial. In other words, Mager did not receive a so-called “plea bargain” and was instead prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Mager, 62, of Townline Road, in Alden, admitted that on October 28, 2014, while employed as a maintenance worker with the Erie County Parks Department, he stole gasoline for his personal use from county owned gas pumps in Elma.
The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Matthew S. Szalkowski. The District Attorney also lauded the investigation conducted by Erie County Sheriff’s Department’s Chief Scott Patronik, Detective Alan Rozansky and Detective Daniel J. Granville.
Mager is scheduled to be sentenced on September 14, 2015.
