Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 41 year-old Glenn Christopher Nellis of 18 Sickmon Avenue in the Town of Hamburg pleaded guilty as charged to Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor in the First Degree, and Rape in the Third Degree before Acting State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski.
Between November 2014 and February 2015, while head coach for the Eden Dolphin’s Swim Club, Nellis transferred sexually explicit photographs of a 16 year-old girl from his cell phone to his home computer. Additionally, Nellis sent a sexually explicit photograph of himself to the same victim and exchanged dozens of sexually explicit text messages and e-mails with her, which culminated in a sexual encounter with her at Chestnut Ridge Park.
Nellis faces a maximum sentence eleven years in state prison when he is sentenced on November 10, 2015. Despite the People’s request that Nellis be remanded into custody pending his sentencing, Justice Michalski permitted the now convicted rapist to remain at large on $5000 bail.
The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lynette M. Reda, who is assigned to DA Sedita’s Special Victims Bureau.
