Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announced that today, 45 year-old Joseph Lloyd, of Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty, as charged, to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree before Supreme Court Justice Christopher Burns. 

Lloyd’s conviction stems from a series of unfulfilled home improvement contracts.  Between July 21, 2014 and October 14, 2015, Lloyd entered into three contracts with victims who resided in Blasdell and Orchard Park.  Lloyd made false representations to the victims in order to induce them to enter into the contracts.  The victims then either paid for his services in full or remitted a substantial down payment for Lloyd’s services.  Once Lloyd received the money from the victims, he abandoned the projects without performing any work or purchasing any materials for the projects.  The three victims lost a combined $17,900 as a result of his scheme. 

Lloyd faces a maximum prison term of 7 years when he is sentenced by the Honorable Christopher Burns on May 19, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.   Assistant District Attorney Christopher P. Jurusik, who is assigned to the Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau, prosecuted the case.
