Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 31-year old Michael Johnson of Depew pleaded guilty to two counts of Robbery in the 2nd degree before State Supreme Court Justice John Michalski.
In December of 2015, Johnson approached a man at an ATM on McKinley Parkway in Hamburg, threatened him with a gun and took the $200 he was withdrawing from the machine.
Two days later, Johnson approached a woman who was walking into a bank on Transit Road in Cheektowaga to use an ATM, threatened her with a gun and demanded she hand over her bank card and PIN number.
Johnson was later spotted trying unsuccessfully to use the woman’s bank card at a NOCO store in Cheektowaga. A concerned citizen became suspicious and called in Johnson’s license plate number to police.
Lancaster police later found Johnson in the Tops parking lot on Transit Road in Lancaster.
Johnson, a prior felony offender, faces a term of 7-15 years in prison.
He remains at the Erie County Holding Center in Buffalo until he is sentenced on April 19, 2016.
