Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 30 year old Juakeen Glenn of Buffalo has been sentenced to 23 years in prison and five years post-release supervision by Erie County Court Judge Thomas Franczyk.

In January, Glenn pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the 1^st Degree in connection with the death of 58-year old Rafael Martinez of Buffalo.

On November 11, 2014, Glenn and two other accomplices, 38 year old Kenneth Smith and 22 year old Mahalia Guest, both of Buffalo fatally beat and stabbed Martinez in an apartment on Grant Street where Smith and Guest lived.

After they killed the victim, the defendants placed him in a garbage tote, carried him out of the apartment and dumped his body in an alley across the street at 13 Arnold Street.

Kenneth Smith, who pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the 1^st Degree, was sentenced on March 2, 2016 to 23 years in prison by Judge Franczyk.

Guest has pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the 1^st Degree and will be sentenced Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. by Judge Franczyk.

Acting DA Flaherty is crediting the work of the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad, Detective Sgt. Steven Turner, Det. Louis Cardona and Det. Scott Malec and Buffalo Police “D” District Officers Thomas Sercu, Michael Coppola, Jamie Varco and Capt. Paul Mullen.

Assistant District Attorney Gary Hackbush prosecuted the case.
