Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 55-year-old Sandra Krok of Williamsville was sentenced to 6 months of jail time and five years of probation and ordered to make full restitution by Erie County Court Judge Thomas P. Franczyk for using a power of attorney to financially exploit her elderly, widowed mother.  Krok diverted monies from the victim's bank account for her own personal benefit without the knowledge of her mother.

On Sept 29, 2015, the defendant pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree for having stolen $290,346 from her mother between April 30, 2012 and March 30, 2015.

Although Krok professed that the money was taken to pay her daughters' college tuition, records and statements tend to indicate the money was used for trips and luxury items.

The defendant was also sentenced for failing to pay $24,807 in state taxes.

Assistant District Attorneys Candace K. Vogel and Gary M. Ertel prosecuted the case.
