Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 45-year-old Victor Irizarry of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to 23 years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision for a fatal shooting.
In July, Irizarry pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree in the death of 28-year-old Nicholas Jozens of Buffalo.
On September 12, 2015, about 4:30 a.m., in the vicinity of 1960 Clinton Street, Buffalo, the defendant fatally shot Jozens one time in the abdomen.
Acting DA Flaherty commends the investigative work of Buffalo Police Department Detectives Daniel Redmond and Christopher Sterlace, Buffalo Police Lt. Brian Britzzalaro and Buffalo Police Officers Ian Baker, Sean Zoll and James Reese.
Assistant District Attorneys Gary W. Hackbush and Christopher P. Jurusik prosecuted the case.
