Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty In Deadly Crash

Acting District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 20-year-old Jamar Sales of Buffalo pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia to Criminally Negligent Homicide, the highest charge he faced in connection with a deadly crash. 

On August 20, 2015, Sales drove his car, at a high rate of speed through a red light at Masten Ave. and Northampton St. in the City of Buffalo.  His vehicle crashed into a vehicle driven by 72 year old Sylvia deRosas who was proceeding through the intersection with a green light.  The resulting crash caused her death. 

Sales faces a maximum of four years in prison when he is sentenced by Justice Buscaglia on November 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. 

Acting DA Flaherty commends the Buffalo Police Department Accident Investigation Unit for its thorough investigation. 

Acting DA Flaherty’s Chief Trial Counsel, Christopher J. Belling and Assistant District Attorney Lauren Nash prosecuted the case.
