Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr along with Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda announce that a charge of Murder in the Second Degree has been filed against 26-year-old Jorge Suarez of Buffalo for the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Freddie Dizon of Buffalo at the Anchor Bar restaurant at 1047 Main Street in Buffalo.
It is alleged that on Friday, May 20, 2016 at around 7:00 p.m., Suarez entered the Anchor Bar, shot Mr. Dizon, an Anchor Bar employee, and fled.
This case will now be presented to an Erie County Grand Jury.
“Gunning down a defenseless man at his place of employment is brazen enough,” says acting DA Flaherty. “But committing this heinous crime at an iconic restaurant at the height of the Friday night dinner hour is alarming.”
Acting DA Flaherty credits the superior investigative work of Buffalo Police Homicide Detective Sergeant Carl Lundin and Detectives James Kaska and Brendan Kiefer.
Homicide Bureau Chief Colleen Curtin Gable and Assistant District Attorney John Patrick Feroleto are prosecuting the case.
Also being announced today is the arrest of 35-year-old Marco Sweat of Buffalo who was arraigned in Buffalo City Court on one count of Murder in the Second Degree for the fatal shooting of 51-year-old Charles Wyatt of Buffalo.
It is alleged that on Friday, September 2, 2016 at about 8:45 a.m. on the street outside of 1400 East Delavan in Buffalo, Sweat shot and killed Mr. Wyatt.
Sweat pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
He will return to Buffalo City Court on Thursday, September 15 at 9:30 a.m. before Judge James McLeod.
Acting DA Flaherty commends the investigative work of Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives Scott Malec, Mark White, John Garcia and Daniel Redmond.
Homicide Bureau Chief Colleen Curtin Gable is prosecuting the case.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
