Acting District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 20 year-old Jamar Sales, formerly of Crestwood Avenue, Buffalo was sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia to six months in jail and five years post-release supervision for a deadly crash.

In September, Sales pleaded guilty to Criminally Negligent Homicide.

On August 20, 2015, Sales drove his car, at a high rate of speed through a red light at Masten Ave. and Northampton St. in the City of Buffalo.  His vehicle crashed into a vehicle driven by 72 year old Sylvia deRosas who was proceeding through the intersection with a green light.  The resulting crash caused her death.

Acting DA Flaherty commends the Buffalo Police Department Accident Investigation Unit for its thorough investigation.

Chief Trial Counsel Christopher J. Belling and Assistant District Attorney Lauren Nash of Flaherty’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau prosecuted the case.
