Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty In Deadly Shooting

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 33-year-old Daren Alexis of Buffalo has pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree just as jury selection began in his trial before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller. 

On August 5, 2016, about 1:20 p.m., in the vicinity of 128 French Street, Buffalo, Alexis fatally shot the victim, 26-year-old Jadero Kelley of Buffalo. 

Alexis faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced by Justice Boller on July 7, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. 

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Buffalo Police Captain Randall Ammerman and Homicide Detectives Michael Mordino, Richard Wagstaff, Christopher Sterlace and William Cooley. 

Assistant District Attorneys Michael D. Smith and Meredith M. Mohun prosecuted the case.
