Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 26-year-old Dennis Howard of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice William Boller to 16 years in prison plus five years post-release supervision.

In May, Howard pleaded guilty to two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree for stabbing a man and a woman in their Kensington Avenue apartment building.

Back in October 2016, the female victim returned to her Buffalo home after work to find her apartment had been burglarized, so she summoned the assistance of her neighbor to scan the apartment for intruders.  As the neighbor entered the apartment, Howard stabbed him once in the throat.  Howard then pursued the female victim and stabbed her multiple times as well.  Both victims suffered life threatening injuries, but survived.

DA Flynn commends the thorough investigative work of Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives Antonio Borrelli, John Garcia and Officer Daniel Owczarczak.

Assistant District Attorney James W. Mansour II prosecuted the case.
