Buffalo Man Sentenced On Gun And Drug Charges

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 38-year-old Michael Billups of Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Justice Thomas P. Franczyk to 5 ½ years in prison and five years post-release supervision. 

In June, Billups pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree. 

On January 13, 2017, at 2:00 a.m., Erie County Sheriff’s Office narcotics personnel executed a search warrant signed by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case to search the defendant’s home for illegal narcotics. During the raid of defendant’s home, greater than four ounces of cocaine, with a street value of about $12,000, was found in a hidden compartment of a fake book which was on defendant’s bookshelf.  Also found under a couch cushion was a loaded .38 caliber revolver. 

DA Flynn commends Chief Alan Rozansky, Detective Daniel J. Granville and Detective Timothy Carney for their thorough investigation. 

Assistant District Attorney Justin T. Wallens of the DA’s Narcotics Unit prosecuted the case.
