Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 16-year-old Ibrahim McBryde of Stanislaus Street in Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Thomas Franczyk to 10 years in prison and 20 years post-release supervision for the sexual assault of a teen-aged girl.

In June, the defendant pleaded guilty to two counts of Criminal Sex Act in the First Degree.

In February, the defendant abducted the victim from her home at knifepoint. He forced her into an empty house on Lathrop, where he threatened her with the knife and several guns, held her captive and physically and sexually assaulted her for several hours.

The victim testified at the sentencing of the devastating impact the assault has had on her, but that she is getting better every day.

DA Flynn applauds the victim for her bravery and perseverance in reporting this horrific crime, cooperating with prosecutors and standing up and facing her attacker in open court.

The judge issued an order of protection prohibiting the defendant from having any contact with the victim until February 27, 2057.

McBryde will also have to register as a sex offender.

DA Flynn commends the professional response of C district officers as well as the investigative work of Detective Donna Benitez and Detective Julie Ledwin of the Sexual Offense Squad of the Buffalo Police Department.

Assistant District Attorney Bethany A. Solek of the Special Victims Bureau successfully prosecuted the case.
