Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 51-year-old Saundra Adams of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to 7-21 years in prison for her role in a burglary in 1983 that led to the death of an elderly man.
In September, Adams pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree.
On June 23, 1983, Adams and two unknown accomplices broke into a home on Hastings Avenue in Buffalo and caused the death of 92-year-old Edmund Schreiber, a World War I veteran awarded a purple heart for injuries suffered in battle.
DA Flynn salutes the outstanding efforts of the Buffalo Police Department, including Detective Scott Malec, Chief Joseph Gramaglia, Captain Ron Jentz, Commissioner Daniel Derenda and retired Detective Brian Ross for their unwavering commitment to this case.
Assistant District Attorneys Eugene T. Partridge III and John Patrick Feroleto of the DA’s Homicide Bureau prosecuted the case.
