Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 29-year-old Travis Green of Cheektowaga has been arraigned by Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio on an indictment charging him with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that on November 14, 2017, at around 2:30 p.m., the defendant entered the Dollar General store off Union Road in Cheektowaga requesting an employment application when he became irate, left the store, and then from the parking lot, fired multiple rounds at the store with an AR-15-style rifle and possibly more rounds from a pump-action rifle.

The defendant fled on foot and was apprehended by Cheektowaga Police Officers.

One customer was struck by the gunfire and was treated at a hospital.

Green pleaded not guilty and was remanded to jail without bail. If convicted of the charges, the defendant could face a maximum of 25 years in state prison.

DA Flynn credits the quick work of the Cheektowaga Police Department in apprehending the defendant and commends Detective Christopher Chojnacki for his investigative work.

Assistant District Attorney Ryan D. Haggerty of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Bureau is prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
