Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 21-year-old Darnell Cleveland of Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to 3 ½ years in prison plus 2 ½ years post release supervision.
Darnell pleaded guilty to one count of Burglary in the Second Degree, Forgery in the Second Degree, Identity Theft in the Second Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the Third Degree.
Between July and September 2017, Darnell entered the residence halls and dorm rooms of several students at SUNY Buffalo. The defendant took students’ car keys and wallets, using their vehicles and credit cards to purchase items for himself.
Assistant District Attorney Rachel Kranitz McPhee of the District Attorney’s Special Investigations Bureau prosecuted the case.
