Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 31-year-old Musa Ramadan of Buffalo was sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia to 3 ½ years in prison and 5 years post-release supervision.

On the evening of May 7, 2017, Ramadan, who was driving with a suspended license, made a quick turn on Hertel Avenue, cutting off another motorist and causing a minor crash.  The defendant exited his vehicle and ran toward bushes on the side of the road where he attempted to hide a plastic bag. When Buffalo Police Officer Ciszek arrived on the scene, he found the bag, which contained more than eight ounces of powder cocaine. A Buffalo Police K9 was brought to the scene, and it detected the odor of narcotics in Ramadan’s car. DNA analysis confirmed that Ramadan’s DNA was a match to the DNA profile found on the bag of cocaine.

In December 2017, the defendant pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A felony. Ramadan has a history of criminal convictions including possession of an illegal firearm.
