Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 54-year-old Mark Dublino of Cheektowaga has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to 107 years in prison.
A jury found Dublino guilty of two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, four counts of Burglary in the First Degree, one count of Aggravated Criminal Contempt and two counts of Assault in the Second Degree.
On June 6, 2016, the defendant entered the home of his former girlfriend in Williamsville, violating an order of protection. Once inside, Dublino attacked the victim and her friend, striking each multiple times in the head with a sledgehammer. Immediately following the attack, Dublino drove to his former girlfriend’s parents’ home in Amherst where he attacked her elderly father with a shovel.
All of the victims are in the process of recovering from their injuries.
DA Flynn commends the Amherst Police Department for its thorough investigative work, including Detectives Richard Walters, Robert Cunningham and Thomas Thielman.
Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Szalkowski and Danielle D’Abate prosecuted the case.
