Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 38-year-old Welton Miles of Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Michael Pietruszka to six years in prison followed by three years of post-release supervision. 

On January 31, 2017, members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and the Buffalo Police executed a search warrant at the defendant’s home on Stewart Avenue in the City of Buffalo. Officers found nearly 500 envelopes that contained heroin, fentanyl or a mixture of both. Also, a bag containing more than 1/8 ounce of powder cocaine and a bag containing more than 1/8 ounce of fentanyl was discovered. In addition to the narcotics, drug paraphernalia and aerosol cans with false bottoms to conceal drugs were seized.

The defendant admitted that he possessed the narcotics with intent to sell. Miles pleaded guilty to four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, the highest charges in the indictment, in March 2018.

Miles is a third time felony offender. At the time of his arrest, Miles was on parole.
