Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a jury has found 36-year-old Ansara Walker, also known as Randy Walker, of Buffalo guilty of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree following a three day trial. The defendant was found guilty on the only count in the indictment.

On September 20, 2016, Buffalo Police responded to a domestic trouble call on Butler Avenue. The complainant directed police officers to her apartment where the defendant was present. Police officers recovered a 9 mm Luger handgun loaded with a magazine containing 25 hollow point bullets from underneath a bed in the apartment.

The defendant, a convicted felon, told officers he carried the handgun for protection.  DNA evidence was used to prove that the defendant possessed the gun.

Walker faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges on Monday, July 23 at 10 a.m.
