Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 22-year-old Ziykeyun Prather of Buffalo has been arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Diane Wray on one count of Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
On June 7, 2018, at approximately 3 p.m., the defendant is accused of fatally shooting a 21-year-old man on Fillmore Avenue in the City of Buffalo.
The defendant was remanded without bail. He is scheduled to return on Wednesday, June 13 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing.
If convicted on all charges, Prather faces 25 years to life in prison.
DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their immediate action that led to the arrest of the suspect as well as the investigative work of the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad.
Colleen Curtin Gable, Chief of the DA’s Homicide Bureau, is prosecuting the case.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
