Buffalo Man Admits to Attempted Child Sex Abuse

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 20-year-old Joseph Lopez of Buffalo pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to two counts of Attempted Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree.

The defendant admitted to attempting to sexually abuse two victims.

Lopez faces a maximum of 15 years in prison followed by a maximum of 15 years of post-release supervision when he is sentenced on Tuesday, August 14 at 9:30 a.m. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Detective Emily Nelson Gerken and Detective Christian Parisi of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office as well as Town of Eden Officer Nicholas Blasz.

Assistant District Attorney Bethany A. Solek of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau prosecuted the case.
