Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that the 17-year-old male who placed a threat against a Buffalo high school on social media pleaded guilty before Buffalo City Court Judge Amy C. Martoche to one count of Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

 On Friday, June 1, Buffalo Police responded to Hutchinson Central Technical High School, which resulted in a lockdown while a social media threat was investigated. Police determined that the defendant created a fake Facebook account and posted the threatening message. 

In addition, Judge Martoche issued an order of protection for an official at the school.

The case has been transferred to Mental Health Treatment Court before Buffalo City Court Judge Robert T. Russell.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Buffalo Police Detective Michael Acquino and US Marshal James Bona who were able to quickly identify the defendant as the source of the threat.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley M. Morgan of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit.
