Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 24-year-old Victor Long of Buffalo pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. The defendant pleaded guilty to the only charge in the indictment. 

On October 19, 2017, Buffalo Police officers on routine patrol spotted a vehicle traveling on Fourgeron Street without a front license plate. The officers initiated a traffic stop, and the driver stated that he did not have a license. The defendant, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, also did not have a license. Officers asked both men to exit the vehicle and called a tow truck.

While waiting for the tow truck to arrive, the officers discovered a loaded revolver inside a book bag and placed both defendants under arrest.

A lab obtained a DNA profile on the firearm, which excluded the driver of the vehicle. The driver was cited for driving without a license and ticketed for driving without a front license plate.

Long faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Friday, August 3 at 9:30 a.m.
