Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 27-year-old Gregory Ramos (aka “Prospect”) of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to an indeterminate sentence of 20 years to life in prison.

On May 20, 2016, the defendant and 27-year-old Jorge Suarez of Buffalo, drove to the Anchor Bar on Main Street in the City of Buffalo. Suarez entered the back of the restaurant and fatally shot Freddie Dizon, 32, of Buffalo. The evidence showed that Ramos drove Suarez to the restaurant and away from the scene of the crime.

In December 2017, Suarez, who was convicted of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison by former Erie County Court Judge Thomas P. Francyzk.

In May 2018, a jury found Ramos guilty of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree for his role in the crime.

“I hope that the family of Mr. Dizon feels that justice has been served by both defendants being convicted of their crimes and sentenced to significant terms of incarceration,” said DA Flynn.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department and the Niagara Falls Police Department for their thorough investigative work.

The case was prosecuted by John P. Feroleto, Chief of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau, Assistant District Attorney Ashley M. Morgan of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit, and Assistant District Attorney Colin X. Fitzgerald of the DA’s Justice Courts.
