Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty in 2015 Fatal Shooting

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 27-year-old Cornelius Jones of Buffalo pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice John Michalski to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree.

On July 5, 2015, the defendant fatally shot 21-year-old Daquawn Griggs of Buffalo at a neighborhood block party on Montana Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

Jones faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Wednesday, October 24 at 9:30 a.m.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Homicide Division, including Detectives Scott Malec and Mark White, as well as Investigator Brian Ross of the NYS Attorney General’s Office.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.
