Buffalo Couple Admits to Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 33-year-old Donel Cathcart and 34-year-old Latoya Raymond of Buffalo both pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice William M. Boller to one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

On February 17, 2018, at approximately10:30 a.m., Buffalo Police Department narcotics personnel executed a search warrant at the defendants’ Seneca Street apartment for illegal narcotics. During the raid, investigators found large amounts of crack cocaine and heroin, with an estimated street value of $20,000. In addition, drug paraphernalia used to sell narcotics and more than $8,000 in cash was recovered.

Both defendants have a long criminal history of narcotics convictions. Each defendant faces a maximum of 14years in prison when they are sentenced on September 20, 2018 at 9:30 a.m.

DA Flynn commends Detectives Christopher Pliszka, Bart Adams, Shawn Adams, Anthony Lapiana and Timothy Rooney for their thorough investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Justin T. Wallens of the DA’s Narcotics Unit.
