Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 49-year-old Alonzo Ross of Buffalo has been arraigned by State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges on an indictment charging him with one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Assault in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that on May 15, 2018, the defendant beat 70-year-old girlfriend on the head, face and body with the intent to cause her death.

Ross is scheduled to return on Wednesday, October 24 at 9:30 a.m. for a motion argument. He was remanded without bail. 

If convicted on all charges, Ross faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Detectives Eric Kross and Adam Stephany of the Buffalo Police Department.

Assistant District Attorney Katharine S. Lavin of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau is prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
