Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 31-year-old Maurice Scott of French Street in Buffalo was arraigned in Cheektowaga Town Court on Saturday, December 22, 2018 on one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a class “D” felony.

It is alleged that in the afternoon of December 19, 2018, Scott brutally beat 41-year-old Matthew Rudy on Walden Avenue in the Town of Cheektowaga.

Scott posted bail and is to return to Cheektowaga Town Court on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 9:30am before Justice Dennis T. Gorski.  If convicted on the charge, Scott faces 7 years in prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Alicia Lilley of the Felony Trials Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
