Buffalo Man Receives Maximum Sentence for 2017 Homicide

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 24-year-old Tevin McCutcheon of Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to 25 years to life in prison. 

The defendant was convicted in the murder of 23-year-old Jonathan Grumble of Buffalo whose body was found in a vacant lot on Quincy and Ashley Streets in the City of Buffalo on May 20, 2017.

Judge DiTullio found McCutcheon guilty of one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A” felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” felony, on January 2, 2019 after an eight-day bench trial. McCutcheon was found guilty on the highest count in the indictment against him.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad, including Detective Antonio Borrelli and retired Detective Dan Redmond.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau and Danielle N. D’Abate, Chief of the DA’s Community Prosecution Bureau.
