Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 24-year-old Julian Williamson of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to a determinate sentence of 7 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

The defendant admitted that on August 11, 2016, at approximately 2:00 a.m., he attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with an adult female victim by forcible compulsion in the vicinity of Genesee Street and Michigan Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The defendant was not known to the victim.

In April 2019, Williamson pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Rape in the First Degree, a Class “C” violent felony.

DA Flynn commends Detective Melanie Janusz of the Buffalo Police Department Sex Offense Squad for her work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Katharine S. Lavin of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
