Buffalo Man Indicted for Attacking Woman with Samurai Sword

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 59-year-old Benjamin Frost, Sr. of Buffalo has been arraigned before State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia on an indictment charging him with one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “B” felony, and one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class “D” felony.

It is alleged that on March 27, 2019, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the defendant attacked a female victim with a samurai sword inside an apartment at the Kenfield Homes on Edison Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

The victim was taken by ambulance to ECMC where she was treated for severe cuts to her head, arms, hand, thigh and back. She continues to recover from her injuries.

Frost is scheduled to return on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial hearing. He remains held on $250,000 cash or bond.

If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends Buffalo Police Department E District officers for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rachel L. Newton of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
