Buffalo Man Receives Jail Time for Sex Abuse

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 32-year-old Shawn Haskins of Buffalo was sentenced yesterday by State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek to 6 months in jail followed by 10 years of probation. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

The defendant admitted that he subjected a female victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion at a location in the Town of Amherst on April 19, 2019.

Haskins pleaded guilty to one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class “D” violent felony, on Monday, July 22, 2019.

DA Flynn commends Detectives Paul Alexander and David Wik of the Amherst Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Cathleen M. Roemer of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
