Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 69-year-old Jamal Fareed, also known as James Roseboro, of Buffalo has been arraigned before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A-1” felony.
It is alleged that on November 13, 2018, at approximately 2 p.m., Buffalo Police were called to an apartment building on Main Street for the report of a deceased man. Officers found the body of 66-year-old Ray Thompson inside his apartment. An autopsy determined that he died from stab wounds and blunt force trauma.
A return date has not yet been scheduled. He remains held without bail.
If convicted on the charge, he faces a maximum 25 years to life in prison.
DA Flynn commends Detectives Carl Lundin and James Kaska of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the DA’s Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Louis Mussari of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
